Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

About the Company:

Our client, a well-established organization in Monterey, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join their team. This position offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, bonuses (plural), and ample vacation time. The Accounting Manager will oversee a team of five accounting professionals and report directly to the Controller.

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the Controller in various financial processes. This position requires a strong leader with extensive experience in accounting practices, team management, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and develop a team of five accounting staff members.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other related accounting functions.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process and prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Work closely with the Controller to develop and implement accounting best practices, processes, and internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including state and federal tax returns.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
