Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides orientation to new patients to the programs' rules, policies, procedures, and patients' rights.
  • Conducts Intakes, Discharge Planning, Initial Assessments, and Initial Treatment Plans professionally and within time guidelines as required by applicable federal and state regulation, CARF guidelines, and Pinnacle Policies.
  • Involves patients in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention, fostering a sense of ownership in their recovery.
  • Administers biopsychosocial assessments evaluating all areas of patients' lives, including addictions, medical and mental health history, socioeconomics, legal issues, etc., at intake and ongoing.
  • Recognizes and utilizes patients' Strengths, Needs, Ability, and Preferences (SNAP) to develop individualized Treatment Plans that help patients meet their goals.
  • Determines the clinical necessity of counseling services based on assessments.
  • Monitors and documents changes in patients' circumstances, addressing relapse indicators early to promote prevention.
  • Complies with Medical Q.A and Clinical Risk Management Policies, including evaluating high-risk conditions, administering screening tools, and coordinating referrals.
  • Provides professional counseling and referral services, including individual and group counseling, utilizing techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Schedules and documents counseling sessions, engages in community outreach, and attends training and team meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Counselor I: $20-$22/hour

  • Associate degree or completion of most counselor certification courses, license, or certification; in Kern County, a bachelor's degree or 75% of certification courses is required.
  • Registration/certification by a recognized Certifying Organization; proof required immediately upon employment.
  • 0-2 years of experience.

Counselor II: $22-$25/hour

  • Same educational requirements as Counselor I, with 2-5 years of experience or a Master's degree.

Counselor III: $25-$28/hour (Certified) & $28-$31/hour (Licensed)

  • Licensed, licensed eligible, or certified; proof of licensure or certification required immediately upon employment.

Experience

Preferred: Prior SUD counseling experience.

Education

Required: Technical training in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related; Associates or higher in Psychology or related. Preferred: Master's or higher in Psychology or related; Bachelors or higher.

Licenses & Certifications:

Preferred: SUDCC III, II, or I; LPC; ACSW; LCSW; LMFT; AMFT; CADC levels.
