The Special Waste Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant management of special waste, including non-hazardous materials that require special handling due to their unique properties. This role involves waste sorting, transportation, and disposal, as well as providing customers with accurate sales quotes for special waste management services. Additionally, will be responsible for meeting assigned sales quotas, contributing to the growth of the business by generating new leads and retaining existing customers through excellent service and timely waste disposal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Customer Service:

  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide accurate sales quotes for special waste management and disposal services.
  • Assess the volume, type, and specific requirements of special waste to generate tailored pricing based on disposal method, transportation, and required permits.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure quotes reflect the full scope of work, including any special handling, regulatory compliance, or added services required.
  • Achieve established sales targets by securing new business and maintaining customer relationships to ensure repeat sales.
  • Track progress toward meeting sales quotas, adjusting efforts to increase quote conversions and expand service contracts.
  • Actively follow up with leads generated from quotes to convert them into service agreements, ensuring consistent business growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to foster loyalty and increase the likelihood of repeat business.

Customer Interaction:

  • Explain the pricing structure, payment terms, and services to customers, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Offer advice on appropriate waste disposal methods, recycling options, and any environmental benefits.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to handle customer follow-ups and resolve any customer concerns regarding the quotes or services provided.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all waste management activities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, such as OSHA, EPA, and other environmental laws.
  • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of all waste disposal activities, safety procedures, and compliance with environmental regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of special waste management activities, including transportation, disposal, and recycling.
  • Complete necessary reports for regulatory agencies or internal auditing purposes.

Waste Treatment and Disposal:

  • Assist in the treatment, recycling, or proper disposal of special waste at designated facilities.
  • Ensure waste is disposed of in the most environmentally responsible manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require technical certification or training in environmental safety or hazardous waste management.
  • Previous experience in waste management or a related field.
  • Experience in sales or customer service, particularly with generating quotes or working directly with customers.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and disposal.
  • Ability to calculate and provide accurate service quotes based on customer needs.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and explaining services and pricing.
  • Ability to handle multiple customer requests while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and reporting.
  • Quota Achievement: Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas based on the volume of special waste contracts secured, customer conversions, and new client acquisitions.
  • Lead Generation: Actively identify and pursue potential clients through market research, customer referrals, and industry networking to meet sales goals.
  • Quote Conversions: Convert a specified percentage of sales quotes into signed service agreements, ensuring steady growth in company revenue.
  • Customer Retention: Focus on repeat business and long-term contracts to ensure sustained revenue and successful client relationships.
  • Reporting: Track sales performance against quota goals, report progress to management, and adjust strategies to meet or exceed targets.

Salary: $70,063 - $112,150/year with uncapped commission
