Description
The Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff is responsible for oversight and management of day-to-day operations under the leadership of the president to enable the president to nurture external relationships and focus on institutional growth. Responsibilities include oversight of the leadership, overall direction and effective management of the university's administrative operations in support of Simpson University's mission and management of tactical plans to deliver operational priorities, and contribution to the strategic plan for the university. Direct supervision of University departments as assigned by the President.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in business or education required. Doctorate preferred.
2. Minimum of ten years work experience within higher education setting, with five years of senior-leadership experience or comparable business experience.
3. High level of financial acumen preferred. Background and/or knowledge in accounting is desirable.
4. Experience in managing corporate legal affairs
5. Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams and developing organization-wide strategy for program excellence
6. Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence, and has experience in leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact; ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information
7. Exceptional time management skills; listening, written verbal communication and interpersonal skills
8. Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
9. Successful team management skills with the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
10. Technologically astute and capability of managing in multiple enterprise modalities and platforms
11. Ability to exhibit poise, composure, and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations
12. Ability to take the initiative and promote initiative within their team/department
13. Knowledge of modern and complex practices associated to performance accountability
14. Organizational development, personnel management, budget and resources development, and strategic planning skills
15. Demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involves high levels of collaboration
16. Proven resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
17. Knowledge of the development of key processes for the purpose of increasing operational efficiencies and ensuring high-level service
18. Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training
19. Acknowledge and respect diverse perspectives
20. Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
21. Ability to provide leadership to supervise the planning, development and establishment of new, modified and/or improved accountability services and activities
