Successful candidates will have experience in budget and finance, be self-motivated, have great analytical skills, and be detail oriented with the ability to solve business problems and deliver timely and effective technical work.Under direction, incumbents in this position independently perform complex and responsible paraprofessional accounting work. They are assigned the overall technical responsibility for the financial operation of a major accounting system or entity; and perform other related work as required.The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Social Services provides public services that promote self-sufficiency, health, and well-being. Education and Experience :
A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes :
Either A : Four years of experience as an Account Clerk or equivalent position.
Or B : Two years of experience as a Senior Account Clerk or an equivalent position.
Or C : An A.S. degree from an accredited college which includes 6 semester units of Accounting.
The ideal candidate will have related previous work experience and MS Office Excel skills. A certification or Associates degree in accounting or a related field is desired, but not required. We are seeking a self-motivated individual that possesses a strong work ethic and is detail oriented and thorough in their work. Additionally, well-honed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion is a must. A flexible, team-oriented individual that is adaptable to competing demands and demonstrates quality customer service and response will be most successful in this role.
