WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR II

The County's Department of Public Works is seeking applicants for the Wastewater Plant Operator II position. Operators use equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, screening devices, flow meters, trickling filters, activated sludge processes, digesters, sludge beds, percolation beds, and spray irrigation systems to recognize and respond to unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions.
The role involves skilled operation and maintenance of rural wastewater treatment plants, sewer conveyance, and water distribution systems, including pumping stations, treatment plants, and potable water systems. Responsibilities include plant operations, routine maintenance, laboratory work, and housekeeping duties.

Hiring Process and Timeline
- Job offers and background checks begin after interviews. Current County employees may be exempt from additional screening.
- Pre-employment medical screening occurs approximately 3 days after a successful background check.
- Start date depends on medical screening completion or a mutually agreed date.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the California Water Resources Control Board. Note: A copy of the Grade II certificate must be attached during Step 1 of the online application.

Condition of Employment
