Department of Economics Temporary Faculty Pool
The Humboldt Department of Economics provides students with a rigorous core combined with applications that range from development and international trade to the environment, natural resources, sustainability, and clean energy. The faculty in Economics are committed to innovative and effective learning-centered approaches in our classes and we have a culture of close pedagogical collaboration. We have an interdisciplinary program and most of our classes include a mix of economics majors, majors in several other disciplines, and general education students.
Courses offered by the department include Contemporary Topics in Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, and Principles of Macroeconomics.
Courses include Intermediate Micro and Macro, Financial Institutions and Capital Markets, International Economics and Globalization, Economics of the Developing World, US Economic History, Economics of a Sustainable Society, Energy Economics & Climate Policy, and Environmental & Natural Resources Economics.
Graduate degree or ABD in Economics or related discipline with coursework in economics. A conferred PhD in Economics and two or more years of relevant successful college or university level teaching experience is preferred.
A conferred PhD or ABD in Economics and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence. Two or more years of relevant successful college or university level teaching experience is preferred.

Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the traditional homelands of the Wiyot people in what is currently called Arcata, CA. The Wiyot people call the area Goudi'ni (over in the woods). The Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Northern California is in close proximity to several thriving Native American tribes and communities. Humboldt currently has the largest percentage of Native American students in the CSU system and has over 30 Native American faculty and staff, many from local area California Indian tribes. Cal Poly Humboldt is home to a number of leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP). There are also many opportunities at Humboldt to conduct research, teaching and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections at the Cal Poly Humboldt library.
