SUMMARY

Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. The Marketing and Communications team drives Relay GSE's brand awareness, sharpens brand messaging, and fosters meaningful engagement with key audiences. This team crafts compelling stories and data-driven marketing strategies that support revenue growth and advance our mission and vision.The Director, Marketing Operations will lead the marketing team's operational systems, driving efficiency, alignment, and performance across all campaigns. Reporting to the VP, Marketing, this role will manage the marketing technology stack, optimize processes, and uphold data integrity to support Relay's growth.

Role's Contributions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The essential responsibilities of this position, while not limited to the following, will include:

Marketing Technology and Data Management (30%)

  • Manage Relay's marketing technology stack, including CRM systems, marketing automation tools, email platforms, and analytics software, to optimize functionality and support strategic marketing objectives.
  • Drive technology integration and lead ongoing improvements by identifying and implementing advancements across the marketing technology ecosystem.
  • Manage data collection processes and conduct robust data analysis to inform data-driven marketing strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with marketing regulations, data privacy laws, and internal governance protocols to ensure ethical and secure handling of customer data.

Process Management & Campaign Planning (40%)

  • Establish and manage a streamlined process with the Marketing team for campaign planning, execution, tracking, and optimization to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Coordinate multi-channel campaigns aligned with business objectives, ensuring cohesive messaging across platforms.
  • Oversee the production of marketing materials, including creative assets, website updates, and collateral, ensuring on-time delivery for effective marketing campaigns

Performance Tracking, Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration (30%)

  • Recommend, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) across marketing channels to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvements
  • Develop dashboards and regular reports for monitoring marketing performance and optimizing ROI, collaborating closely with the Chief Growth Officer and Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (VP, Marketing)
  • Lead process standardization efforts and identify workflow inefficiencies, implementing improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and coordination within the Marketing team.
  • Partner with internal teams, including Partnerships, IT, and Student Affairs, to resolve data management issues and enhance cross-functional collaboration
  • Engage with research firms and vendors to conduct focus groups, gather insights, and develop impact reports

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned in support of the team's goals

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Director of Marketing Operations and Implementation must share the Relay community's commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we're looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of marketing operations experience, preferably in an in-house leadership role within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new marketing technology platforms.
  • Experience or familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp), social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite), website development platforms (e.g., Webflow), website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and customer relationship management tools (e.g., Slate) is a plus.
  • Proficient project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally across departments.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple key initiatives simultaneously and excelling in implementation.
  • Experience creating marketing dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of implementing and optimizing marketing automation workflows is preferred, but not required.

COMPENSATION

Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $96,525. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range, $96,525-$135,135 to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee's time at Relay GSE.

  • Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience,
  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.
