Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret telemetry Description: Unit has 22 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 3-4. The unit is busy with a high turnover of patients. Common diagnoses include post-operative CABG, surgical thoracic cases, strokes, and cardiac conditions. There will be a charge nurse for all 74 beds across the various units. Nurse aides will assist with coverage across the units. There is a requirement for four weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule, with options for days or nights. Travelers should be self-motivated and team-oriented. The unit emphasizes patient experience and knowledge of HCAHPS and core measures. The facility has in-house hospitalists or intensivists available. Telemetry monitoring will be available, and nurses must pass a dysrhythmia exam. BIPAP and CPAP are used, but no ventilators are present. There is a 24/7 RT and pharmacy service available. Shifts are typically scheduled 2-3 weeks in advance. Travelers may be floated to other units as needed.
