Overview

Under the general direction of the Office Chief of Roadside Maintenance (Senior Transportation Engineer, CT) the incumbent is responsible for the District Treatment Best Management Practice (TBMP) inspection program, maintenance and improvement of the TBMP database, and serves as the technical advisor and program coordinator for the HM-233 TBMP Program. Works with HQ and other District programs to meet the TBMP program's objectives and requirements. Monitors, tracks and evaluates TBMP and stormwater activities on projects. Makes special reports and provides recommendations with regard to program element requirements. Responsible for the initiation, planning, design, including the production of engineering reports, contract plans, estimates, and specifications, and construction for Minor TBMP and stormwater improvement projects. This position requires working independently and as a team leader within the structure of the Caltrans maintenance and capital project development process.

Special Requirements

Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. SOQ Instructions

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) Instructions: Answer in no more than 2 pages, single-spaced, font size no smaller than 12.

  • Describe your experience in the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater and treatment best management practices (TBMPs). Include specific project examples and your role.
  • Explain familiarity with California's NPDES permit requirements as they apply to transportation projects and TBMPs.
  • Provide examples of project development and application of civil engineering principles.
  • Discuss experience serving in an advisory or programmatic role for stormwater TBMPs or other asset management programs, including policy development and maintenance strategies.
