Job Title: Production Manager
Location-Type: NYC Onsite (can be remote 1x/wk can flex on which day week to week)
Start Date Is: ASAP
Duration: 5 Month Contract
Hours: 35-40 Hours/Week (flexible for candidate preference)
Compensation Range: $25-30/hr W2

The Production Manager is part of the Creative team that works on the Museum's brand and identity, onsite experience and visitor journey, marketing/advertising campaigns, education, member and development communications to drive reach and revenue. The role is responsible for making sure the production of all material is done to spec, budget and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years printing production/or related field
  • B.A. preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, problem solving techniques.
  • Should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, have strong managerial skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with print vendors of different kinds, writing project instructions, reviewing proofs and managing timelines
  • Great client and vendor management skills and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Passion for art a bonus
Job Description:
  • Produces marketing/advertising material for visitation and membership acquisition and retention, wayfinding and signage, exhibition graphics, and print and digital collateral for departments across the Museum.
  • This includes:
    • Supporting the team with the production of exhibitions and exhibition-related projects such as title walls, wall texts, labels, and facsimiles, in close collaboration with curatorial and exhibition teams
    • Working with key stakeholders to produce museum signage and wayfinding assets.
    • Conducts effective and solutions-oriented meetings and communications with clients to ensure optimal delivery of design assets
    • Color correct and retouch ad images, route, traffic, and acquire approvals
  • Working with vendors
  • Research vendors and create spec sheets for competitive price bids and estimates. Usually multiple quotes based on design and quantity changes
  • Plan and maintain client's budget
  • Create production schedules with vendor and manage it closely to ensure all parties adhere to deadlines
  • Manage color correcting and proofing for pre-production and facilitate multiple departments approval before the production begins
  • On a weekly basis, all cross-museum signage are produced for missing, damaged or new signage requests, urgent requests which can be installed without a vendor where possible such as magnetic letters and small vinyl icon/letters
  • Reviewing invoices for payment of all the projects, following up if payment is past due
