Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Marketing and Communications Coordinator will support the development and implementation of marketing initiatives across multiple channels, ensuring the organization's messaging is consistent, compelling, and aligned with our mission to raise awareness, drive engagement, and support advocacy, education, and fundraising goals. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, creative, and organized, with a passion for making an impact through strategic marketing.

The Senior Marketing and Communications Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Presence:

  • Support the development and execution of the social media strategy and content, ensuring consistent messaging and brand tone across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Assist in creating and scheduling social media posts, managing content calendars, and responding to community inquiries to foster engagement.
  • Track social media trends and help optimize content to increase engagement, reach, and follower growth.
  • Communicate insights with Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy
  • Manage the engagement with the audience to ensure timely responses to comments and inquiries.
Marketing Campaigns & CRM:
  • Assist in the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns (email/text), from concept to delivery, ensuring consistent messaging and strategic targeting.
  • Help manage email lists, segment audiences, and ensure campaigns are personalized to optimize open rates and engagement.
  • Track campaign performance and assist in optimizing user journeys for various audience segments.
Content Development & Storytelling:
  • Contribute to content creation for various channels, including website copy, blog posts, educational resources, social media, newsletters, and press materials.
  • Help curate and develop stories from the diabetes community to drive emotional connections with the audience.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather content that highlights organizational initiatives, audience stories, and key updates.
Website Management & User Experience:
  • Assist in website content updates, ensuring it remains relevant, user-friendly, and aligned with the organization's overall marketing strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy to optimize the site for SEO and enhance user experience.
  • Monitor website performance, assist with user engagement metrics, and contribute to strategies that improve website traffic and conversions.
Team Collaboration & Administrative Support:
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective marketing initiatives.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics for marketing campaigns (email, social media, paid ads, etc.).
  • Provide general administrative support for the marketing team, including managing project timelines, coordinating meetings, and ensuring tasks are completed on time.
  • Assist in analyzing performance data to provide actionable insights for refining and improving marketing strategies.
  • Help manage relationships with contractors, content creators, external vendors, agencies, and consultants as needed for marketing initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field. Experience in nonprofit marketing or working with advocacy and fundraising initiatives is a plus.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Experience in social media platforms, content management tools, and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience with HubSpot and/or strong desire for proficiency
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is required; video editing software is desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Discord server management and community moderation is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Additional Information:
  • Travel: Occasional travel required for conferences and other meetings and events.
  • Work Schedule: Occasional need to work evenings and weekends to support social media and events.

Compensation & Benefits

The Diabetes Link is a fully remote organization. The Senior Marketing and Communications Coordinator position is an exempt full-time position with benefits.

The Diabetes Link offers a comprehensive compensation package including a competitive base salary and a wide array of benefits. Benefits for full-time exempt employees include:
  • Unlimited paid time off

The pay scale for this position is $62,000-$78,000, and is based on experience.
