About the Position:
Provides support and services designed to ensure effective, quality case management for children and their families involved with the Health Services Agency. Serves as an advocate for clients in various daily living situations. Handles routine case management services.
The primary responsibility is to serve mothers and families of children ages 0-5 who are at risk of adverse childhood experiences. The Family Support Worker will manage long term voluntary case plans as well as help families identify strengths, develop a strong parent/child bond, set and meet goals, and develop parenting skills.
Examples of Duties

  • Meets with families and consults with service providers on a regular basis to ensure the proper implementation of case management plans and to monitor case progress.
  • Assists families with goal setting and supports the families in meeting those goals.
  • Conducts development screenings for assigned children as needed.
  • Refers families to and/or coordinates care plans with other private or public mental health and medical service providers and support programs as appropriate.
  • Bilingual Candidates: Translates, interprets and otherwise communicates with members of the Spanish speaking community.
Education, Experience & Licenses
  • Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade and three (3) years of experience working with families and children providing family centered and strength based services preferably in a home visiting environment.
OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in a health or social services related field and two (2) years of experience working with families and children providing family centered and strength based services preferably in a home visiting environment.
OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a health or social services related field and one (1) year experience working with families and children providing family centered and strength based services preferably in a home visiting environment.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires a valid California driver's license.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Bilingual Candidates:
• Must pass a Merit Systems Services written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or other appropriate test selected by the County) to qualify.

Recruitment Information
The department is currently recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy.

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future full-time vacancies for a Family Support Worker or Family Support Worker Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.

Testing Dates:

March 5-8, 2026.Testing will be provided via email.
Tentative Interview Dates:

1st- Monday, March 16, 2026 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

2nd- Monday, March 23, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am.

New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.

*Rates listed in this flyer represent a full-time employee's accrual rate and health insurance premium rate. Part-time employees will have pro-rated accruals and health insurance premium rates based on the number of hours they work.

SALARY:
  • Annual salary step increases based upon satisfactory performance and completion of one year of employment (Step A to E).

HEALTH:
  • Approximately 80% of the premium for medical, dental, and vision plan is paid by the County (EPO Plan). The plan covers the employee and all eligible dependents at NO ADDITIONAL COST!
  • Employee premiums are $234.54 per month as of January 1, 2025 and $266.97 as of January 1, 2026 for employee and all eligible dependents.

PAID LEAVES:
  • Benefits also include an annual paid leave plan of
    • 96 hours of vacation (increases upon continuous years of service)
    • 96 hours of sick leave
    • 14 paid holidays plus one 8 hour personal holiday
LIFE INSURANCE:
  • Approximately 80% of the premium for a $30,000 life insurance plan for the employee is paid for by the County.

RETIREMENT:
  • A retirement plan through CalPERS.
    • CalPERS Formulas:
      • Classic member = 2% @ 55
      • New Member = 2% @ 62
  • A Deferred Compensation retirement plan option with a County match of up to a maximum of $60 per month.
