Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Center for Resilience, the Licensed Clinician position is designed for a dynamic professional who will work within an organization focused on supporting children and families impacted by trauma. This role is central to providing mental health services to youth and families, helping them navigate the complexities of trauma recovery. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting, therapeutic relationships with both children and their families. Compassion and a deep commitment to fostering healing are key aspects of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide therapeutic mental health services to youth impacted by trauma and/or sexual exploitation, as well as their families. Services include individual and family therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and parent education
  • Offer therapeutic support for non-offending caregivers to foster healing within the family unit
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, provide diagnoses, and document clinical notes in a clear and timely manner
  • Collaborate effectively with staff, multidisciplinary teams, victim advocates, and other community partners to ensure holistic support for clients
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date case documentation in accordance with program and regulatory standards
  • Stay informed on the latest best practices in trauma-informed care, child abuse, multi-cultural competency, and evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Complete mandatory training programs within the first year, such as TF-CBT, EMDR, PCIT, NMT, and sand play therapy
  • Actively participate in behavioral health team meetings, clinical discussions, staff stand ups, all staff meetings and supervision
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong clinical skills in trauma-informed therapy, including experience with evidence-based treatment models such as TF-CBT, EMDR, or others
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills, particularly in engaging with children, adolescents, and families
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with advances in the field of mental health
  • Required to work a minimum of one evening shift per week (10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
Required Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in a behavioral science (e.g., Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology)
  • Current, valid licensure in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (MFT, LCSW, PCC)
  • Experience providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families, preferably those impacted by trauma or abuse
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including DOJ and FBI Livescan clearance
  • Availability to work at least one evening per week (Monday-Friday) until 6:30 p.m.
  • Experience in the CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) multi-purpose tool
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in an office and clinical environment, including sitting for extended periods, using a computer, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to manage emotional and physical demands related to trauma-focused therapy sessions
  • May require some travel program support
Rate of Pay:

Full time, Exempt status

$75,000 - $90,000 per year DOE
