Job Summary The Project Engineer Intern will support Project Managers/Estimators in all aspects of the infrastructure project(s) to which they are assigned, including estimating, planning, scheduling, costs, and logistics. They work both field and office tasks in support of the project and project team. Their goal is to maximize project safety, efficiency, and profitability.Projects assigned may include bridge construction/retaining walls, earthwork excavation/embankment, asphalt paving operations, and underground piping and drainage.Duties Safety – participate in daily safety tours and toolbox meetingsPersonnel – work closely with field crews, field supervision, surveyors, QC staff, safety staff, and other project engineers to support and execute the construction workEstimating – assist in the development of cost estimates and pricing change order workContract administration – subcontract and material managementDocument control – maintain control of all project documentationTrend tracking – tracking of quantities, costs, and progressEquipment and material managementScheduling – scheduling and work plan developmentDocument review – review plans and other technical documentsCloseout – assist the project team with closeout of the projectOther duties as assignedGeneral Requirements Working toward a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related fieldStrong communication skillsProfessional and polishedComputer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other construction-specific software programsDemonstrates flexibility and is adaptable to changeGeneral knowledge of office protocol, routines, and procedures.Strong attention to detail, critical-thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to meet deadlinesSelf-motivated and proactive.
