The Parking Maintenance & Repair Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly-qualified individuals to be our Campus Safety Assistant! The incumbent ensures the safety and security of the campus community, responsible for securing premises, providing safety escorts, patrolling facilities, and reporting. Additionally, the CSA is responsible for the Safe Parking Program check-in process. We are looking for someone who collaborates with other campus safety personnel and local authorities to maintain a safe and secure campus, provide support in emergency situations, such as evacuations or lockdowns, oversee the district's Safe Parking Program and maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and observations, and complete incident reports. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations.

General purpose

Within established procedures and guidelines, incumbents provide support in emergency situations, such as evacuations or lockdowns. Incumbents oversee the district's Safe Parking Program and maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and observations, and complete incident reports, as required.

Education, training and experience:
High School or G.E.D equivalent and two (2) years of experience working in law enforcement, military, security, event safety and monitoring, parking programs, or working with students in a campus safety/security environment in an educational agency; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience is evaluated on the basis of a verifiable 35-hour week, unless specified otherwise. Prorated part-time experience may be acceptable.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
1. Requires a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. 2. California issued Guard Card must be obtained within six months of employment. 3. First Aid and C.P.R. certifications must be obtained within six months of employment. 4. All licenses/certifications must be maintained throughout course of employment.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
