Safety Generalist

This team member is responsible for the development and administration of programs and standards to ensure the safety of all guests, team members, and vendors.

The essential duties and responsibilities outlined here are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, however, are not all inclusive:

  1. Maintains training and safety record systems pertaining to safety programs. Maintain appropriate records as required by Federal safety and health regulations for the Resort & Casino in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Responsible for reviewing and updating annually, or as needed, all written safety plans, and conducts audits to ensure safety plans and standards are adhered to.
  3. Responsible for all safety training of all team members.
  4. Maintains and reports regularly scheduled site inspections as directed, and reports all findings to the Facilities Supervisor.
  5. Creates, maintains, and monitors safety incentive programs to encourage safe work habits amongst team members.
  6. Reviews and takes weekly action on any noted issues from the previous week's site inspection reports.
  7. Responsible for all hazardous materials reports, inventory control, and emergency response to any and all possible issues.
  8. Ensures that all fire suppression equipment and emergency lighting are operational and meet service and maintenance deadlines.
  9. Responsible for the Resort & Casino's evacuation plan, from creation to implementation including training of team members.
  10. Responsible for ordering all safety supplies and maintains equipment in good working order.
  11. Performs all appropriate emergency equipment inspections on a regularly scheduled annual calendar.
  12. Responsible for reporting, investigating, and taking action in the event of a catastrophe or unusual event which creates any type of emergency risk to the Resort & Casino and/or property.
  13. Investigates all team member and guest accidents and reports findings, makes recommendations, and takes any applicable action.
  14. Coordinates the Resort & Casino's safety committee and acts as a representative on joint committees with other Tribal entities as appointed by Facilities Supervisor.
  15. May be a liaison between Win-River Resort & Casino and other local safety agencies.
  16. Assists with any daily emergency incidents at the request of Security.
  17. Works cohesively with other departments to achieve organizational safety goals.
  18. Performs all duties in a manner that continually supports the vision, mission, values, and principles of the Resort & Casino.
  19. Performs all duties in a manner that adheres to the guest service standards established by Win-River Resort & Casino's guest service program.
  20. First point of contact for any OSHA site visits.
  21. Other Duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.

The education requirements outlined here are representative of the minimum that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, however, higher levels of education than required will be reflected during the recruitment process:

  • A High School diploma, or the equivalent thereof, is required
  • Must Possess Professional OSHA Certification in General Industry.
  • Certification in Blood Borne Pathogens and other areas of personal and property safety, such as fire extinguishing methods, and emergency evacuations procedures is required.
  • Must be willing and able to attend further education requirements as set forth in a education agreement.
  • Must be a certified Forklift trainer.

The experience and knowledge requirements outlined here are representative of the minimum that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, however, higher levels of experience and knowledge than required may be reflected during the recruitment process:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in creating, implementing, and managing a fully functioning and compliant organizational safety program is required.
  • A strong understanding of the Safety and Data Sheet (SDS) handbook is required.
  • A strong combination of written and verbal communication skills to write, read, and comprehend written correspondence, including policies and procedures, concurrent with the ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members of the organization regarding complex safety issues, is required.
  • The ability to perform their job functions in an atmosphere where priorities and deadlines may change frequently is required.
  • Strong computer skills, concurrent with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and online accounting systems is required.
  • A thorough knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and other facets of building maintenance and grounds maintenance is required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and janitorial skills is preferred.
  • Current California Driver's License and current insurance are required.

  • Continuously walks.
  • Frequently bends/stoops, climbs, reaches above/below shoulder level, kneels, and squats.
  • Frequently sits, stands, drives, and crawls.
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to ten (10) pounds is required.
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to fifty (50) pounds is required.
  • Occasionally lifts/carries over one hundred (100) pounds is required.
  • Continuously pushes/pulls up to ten (10) pounds is required.
  • Frequently pushes/pulls up to fifty (50) pounds is required.
  • Occasionally pushes/pulls over one hundred (100) pounds is required.
  • The ability to use office equipment including, but not limited to computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment, and multi-line telephone, is required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke.
