This course is the study of civil litigation. It places focus on the paralegal's role through each stage of a civil case from the first point of contact with a client, through each stage of litigation. Topics covered include initiating a lawsuit including pleadings, the discovery stage of a lawsuit, legal motions, and documents in preparation for trial. This course prepares students to construct pleadings, interview clients, and to prepare discovery, trial, and post-trial documents.

Online adjuncts will need regular access to a computer with the following system requirements
Master's degree in Legal Studies or JD
2-3 years of experience in civil litigation preferred
Must be able to provide professional licenses/certifications required for specialized schools (Health Sciences, Nursing) before teaching, license must be active and unencumbered
Must be able to provide official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution before teaching

Our Online Part-Time (Adjunct) Instructor compensation is determined based on the workload (Work Unit) associated with the specific course assignment. Those selected for these roles can expect a reasonable estimate of the current pay to be $1,700.00 per full-term Work Unit. We take a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including but not limited to: job and level hired into, location, skill set; experience and training; peer compensation and other business and organizational needs. This range is subject to change.
