POSITION SUMMARY:
 The Lymphedema Specialist is responsible for the ongoing coordination and supervision of the daily operations of the service, growth of the service and will provide evaluation and treatment upon physician referral to a patient population consisting of varying diagnosis (Lymphedema and other Edemas).  The Lymphedema Specialist will assess, identify and treat persons with edema including the impact on self care, functional mobility, extremity function, behavior, cognition, perception and the ability to function in their life's role.  The Lymphedema Specialist provides instruction and education to the patient/caregiver to promote the safe execution of the facilitatory techniques taught.  The Lymphedema Specialist will be responsible for carrying out assignments in a manner to assure success in financial management, human resource management (as the service grows), participate in program development and quality review. 

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Successful completion of Lymphedema specialized training within 12 months of hire

Desired:
Three  years experience in treatment of lymphedema and other edemas
Successful completion of Lymphedema specialized training

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Current Occupational Therapy license from the State of California or has been granted a limited permit from the State of California 
Current CPR recognition
Current certification with Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) (tracked by dept)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
 Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes, ability to learn or experience with financial management and human resource management.  Effectively monitors, evaluates and administers the resources of the assigned area and substantially contributes to future planning.  Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally both one-on-one and in groups.  Must have ability to lead, motivate, model core values, delegate, analyze information and problem solve.  Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family.  Clinical skills and knowledge to successfully achieve desired outcomes in assigned patients.
