The Clinical Dietitian is a registered professional who provides nutrition assessment, education and specialized diet instruction to patients and/or groups of patients and their families in an outpatient setting. The dietitian may provide these services independently or in conjunction with other healthcare professionals utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach. Nutrition Services are provided to further the mission of Enloe Medical Center.
-Master's Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or related field
-Previous experience providing medical nutrition therapy required
-One year experience in an outpatient setting including pediatrics, diabetes and gestational diabetes
-Registered with the American Dietetic Association through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or an entry-level dietitian who has completed an ADA approved Dietetic Internship and is registry eligible
-Certification as a Diabetes Educator, or must be obtained when eligible
Must demonstrate technical competence and professional clinical judgment. Knowledge of and ability to apply normal nutrition throughout the life cycle and therapeutic nutrition for people with diabetes and other disease states. Ability to assess the nutritional status and devise care plans for all age groups utilizing good clinical judgment. Capable of counseling patients and families on therapeutic diets to enhance understanding and compliance. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and has basic computer skills. Must have excellent communication and public relation skills. Promotes excellence in education. Utilizes appropriate teaching methodologies. Ability to work well independently and in cooperation with other members of the health care team. Must be willing and able to serve multiple clinics at multiple sites.
